The best time to visit Brazil really depends on what your travel goals are and how much money you want to spend. Prices are a lot more expensive during high season and you will always pay a premium during big holidays like New Years’ Eve and Carnaval. Keep in mind that you will have to book way ahead of time because rooms and flights usually sell out. New Year’s Eve and Carnaval (in February or March) are great times to visit Brazil. Brazilians are generally always in a fun festive mood, but they really let go during the NYE and Carnaval celebrations.
Visiting Brazil during the low season definitely has its advantages including cheaper prices, less crowded beaches, and a more laid-back atmosphere. Just keep in mind that the temperatures are a lot lower during this time. The end of October and November are great times to visit Brazil right before high season kicks in. Prices are cheaper and the weather is usually a lot warmer.
Brazil’s seasons are pretty much the opposite of seasons in the United States. Summer or “High Season” is from December to March and Winter “Low Season” is June till September. The weather and climate in Brazil really depend on what part of the country you’re in. The summers are pretty hot in most parts of Brazil though. The temperatures can reach up to 110º (43ºC) in some areas. In Rio de Janeiro the summers are hot and humid with temperatures in the 90s. Rio’s winters are pretty mild. During the day it’s usually in the 80s and cools down at night to around 70º.
The thing I really love about Brazil is that whether you visit summer or winter, high season or low season it is one of those amazing fun places that you will have a good time whenever you go.
