Every Sunday in the Ipanema area there is a traditional hippie fair, a Brazilian flea market. The fair, aka Feira Hippie de Ipanema, was founded in the late 60s of the last century by a group of hippie enthusiasts. Here you can buy musical toys, sculptures and figurines from the famous mahogany pau-brazil, paintings, kites, traditional Indian vessels, fabric bracelets that bring happiness (they are wound in three rows on the wrist) and even macaw parrots. All things are literally spread out on the ground. Amazonian souvenirs from Manaus are perfect as gifts: snakeskin products, amulets, masks. Gourmets will also not be left without shopping: a bottle of Caipirinha, Brazilian spices and, of course, coffee. It is better to have a calculator with you to clarify with sellers about prices. Beware of pickpockets.
Giorgio Armani once bought the iconic leather sandals from Aaron at this fair.
Opening hours – every Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm.
