I can’t cosign this article enough. It was spot-on when I went to Rio last month! Every woman was not a model but a huge majority were above-average looking! And a little Portuguese took me a loooonnnnggg way.

Hey Jeff, I think it’s an OK to share a taxi from GIG to Copacabana as long as you feel comfortable with the person you’re sharing the cab with. I’ve done it before without any problems.

The airport shuttle isn’t that great of a deal. It’s $27 USD / 48 BRL, which is the same cost as a regular cab. What about sharing a cab with someone heading to the same area?

Private transfers can also be made with Rio Airport Transfer who have a website that allows you to prebook your taxi. They have a good service that, without meaning to be offensive, operates a lot more smoothly than most things in Latin America.
